May

Where to head during May when visiting Latin America or South East Asia

May trends for Latin America

May day in most of Latin America is used as an excuse to light up the barbecues and to hold street parties from Punta Arenas to Tijuana! Argentina and Uruguay in particular take to this in a big way and certainly an excellent time of the year to be in the region.

Honduras

The La Ceiba carnival held on the 8th of May is an internationally renowned festival that celebrates the local Saint Isidore and takes place on the northern coast of the country, this needs to be booked early though as it’s nearly as popular as the classic carnivals that occur prior to Lent earlier in the year.

Natural preservation and the Pantanal go hand in hand and if you want to see this vast area of wetlands between Brazil and Bolivia May is a good time as the rains would have eased off and the temperatures too without being too cool. Globe at One encourages visits if only to have eyes on this wonderful landscape for lobbying to preserve the place.

The wet season is not so pronounced at this time of year but as you go further south in the country towards Cebu, Negros and certainly Mindanao expect to see more rainfall remembering that the sun nearly always makes an appearance anyway.
